Description and BenefitsSt. John's wort is a common shrub-like perennial, bears bright yellow flowers. (¡°Wort¡± is an old English word for an herbor plant.) It grows in many parts of the world. Its scientific name is Hypericum perforatum.( Hypericum perforatum L.), The tops and flowers are used, and collected while the plant is flowering.St. John¡¯s Wort Extract is a secure nerval nutrilite. It has always been used for mild to moderate depression. Scientific studies of the herb suggest that it acts to increase the activity and prolong the action of the neurotransmitters serotonin and noradrenaline, in a similar manner to standard antidepressants, but with fewer reported side effects.

Main Active IgredientsThe most active ingredients is the hypericins and hyperforins in St. John¡¯s Wort. Include Hypericin Pseudohypericin Prtohypericin, Protopseudohypericin Cyclopseudohypericin Isohypercin Emodin-anthrone Hypericode-hydrodianthrone Hyperforin and Adhyperforin. Also there are many other compound in the St. John¡¯s Wort, flavonoids like Hyperin(Hyperoside), organic acid and so on.

Hypericin is a photochemical extracted from St. Johns Wort (Hypericum perforatum) and related species, has been shown to have potent, broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. This compound is an aromatic polycyclic anthrone, a class of colored or pigmented chemical substances which have photosensitizing activity. In both in vitro (laboratory) and in vivo (animal) studies, low, non-toxic doses of hypericin significantly inhibited the replication of several viruses, including HIV, influenza A, cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes simplex 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2), and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Hypericin and its chemical relative, pseudohypericin, produce antiviral activity through a different mechanism of action than do AZT and other nucleoside antiviral agents. Hypericin does not appear to directly alter the activity of reverse transcriptase although it does block the formation of HIV synctium. Recent findings have shown that the antiretrovira
